WE MADE IT !
On a grey, damp 9th December, 9 walkers, 9 runners and 4 dogs set off from the Cathedral and covered the 10 km in times varying from 48 minutes (Lucy Ashe) to something over 2 hours.
We do not yet know the total raised but it will be well over £1000 in support of various good causes the Octagon Appeal, the provision of ordained ministry at St Mark's Church, CHASE, Room to Read (an educational charity working in developing countries), the Musicians Benevolent Fund, Mayorazgo (see the article elsewhere in this magazine), SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
Thanks are due to all who took part. Joanne Wetherall, Elizabeth Dixon, Christina Davies, Rhys Davies, Pennie & John Hartopp, Lyndsey, Callum & Frankie Hollingsworth walked with 3 dogs. Running (with one dog) were Lucy Ashe, Alex Peterken, Mark Shepherd, Ev Chiota, Fiona Andrade-Brown, Gail Norwood (who was joined by her daughter, Annabel, for part of the run), John Ashe, Philip Stapleton and John Tully (Philip left his car at the Cathedral and ran back with John T to collect it!). Simon Wetherall and John Stevens made sure we didn't get lost. Sheila & Tony Smith and Lucy Ashe provided refreshments at the journey's end. Finally, thanks to Suzie Ashe for taking the photographs as we arrived home, to all who helped with transport to the Cathedral and to Canon Angela Weaver who set us on our way with a prayer outside the Cathedral.
It's not too late to sponsor us . . . .
